Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana in early January aimed at installing rooftop solar.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's interim budget speech in Parliament on Thursday, February 1 mentioned the recently inaugurated Ram temple in Ayodhya.
While highlighting the Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana, Nirmala Sitharaman in her interim budget speech said that through rooftop solarization, one crore families will be able to get up to 300 units of free electricity per month. "This project is on the historic day of the consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya by the Prime Minister Modi and Central Minister Yogi Sankalp follow," Sitharaman added.

"After returning from Ayodhya I have taken my first decision that our government will launch 'Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana' with a target of installing rooftop solar systems in one crore houses," Modi said at X.
The new 51-inch Ram Lala idol was consecrated at the Ayodhya temple on January 22, a ceremony presided over by Prime Minister Modi who said it heralded a new era. Millions of people watched the 'Pran Pratishta' program on television in their homes and nearby temples, becoming a part of the event.
Before presiding over the inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, Modi began the 11-day event by visiting the places where Lord Rama set foot as mentioned in the epic Ramayana.
The Prime Minister's 11-day ritual included a strict diet including coconut water and fruit, sleeping on the floor and feeding cows.

Talking about the benefits, Sitharaman informed the House that "free solar power will save households up to ₹15,000-18,000 annually and the surplus will be sold to distribution companies".
Under this project, people will be able to charge their electric vehicles; It will provide entrepreneurial opportunities and employment opportunities for a large number of vendors for supply and installation of youth with technical skills in manufacturing, installation and maintenance.
Talking about India's commitment to 'net-zero' by 2070, he announced a viability gap fund to harness offshore wind power.
\"Efficiency gap funding will be provided to exploit the potential of offshore wind power for an initial 1 GW of capacity," the minister said.
