How was it funded?

In February 2020, the Center announced the creation of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, which was entrusted with the construction and management of the temple in Ayodhya. The initial construction cost, which is only 51.4 percent of its total endowment, will be sufficient for the maintenance of the Trust and other activities centered around the temple in the years to come.

A significant portion of the grant, amounting to 60 per cent, flowed into the trust's coffers between February 2020 and February 2021. Prominent individuals such as UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and former President of India Ram Nath Kovind have personally donated ₹11 lakh and ₹ 5. Lakhs respectively to the trust overseeing the construction of Ram temple.

Pushpa Sundar, author of the book For God's Sake: Religious Charity and Social Development in India, says, “The increase in donations during the pandemic can be attributed to a combination of faith and fear generated by the mass disaster.
