Chief Imam of All India Imam Organization Dr. Imam Umar Ahmed Ilyasi confirmed the receipt of the 'Fatwa' issued against him.
Ayodhya A prominent Muslim cleric who attended the 'Pran Pratistha' ceremony at the Ayodhya Ram temple said that a 'fatwa' has been issued against him for attending the ceremony on January 22. Chief Imam of All India Imams Organization, Dr Imam Umar Ahmed Ilyasi, confirmed the receipt of the 'fatwa' issued against him. I thought for two days and then decided to go to Ayodhya for harmony for the country,” he told ANI, “The fatwa was issued yesterday but since January 22 evening I was getting threatening calls...I recorded one. A few calls where the callers threatened me with death...those who love me, love the nation will support me. Those who hate me for attending the event should probably go to Pakistan. I have given a message of love, I have done no crime...I will not apologize or resign, they can do whatever they want,” added the cleric.
The Prime Minister performed the last Vedic ritual of the ceremony by symbolically opening the eyes of the Ram Lala idol with a golden stick and concluded the ceremony with aarti and shastang pranam (bowing) to the deity. The 51-inch idol of the deity was adorned with a golden crown and golden ornaments and carried a golden bow and arrow. Eminent saints, religious leaders, BJP leaders, film stars, cricketers and industrialists were present on the occasion. Since its inauguration, the Ram temple has seen a huge influx of devotees who flock to the temple town from various parts of India and the world.
