Eviction notice to Mani Shankar Iyer: His daughter opposed consecration of Ayodhya Ram temple, says RWA - Public Apology
Veteran Congress leader Mani Shankar Iyer and his daughter Suranya Iyer have received an eviction notice from their house in Delhi's Jangpura. which was sent by the Residents Welfare Association (RWA).
The notice said to demand a public apology or vacate the house for social media posts condemning the Ayodhya Ram Mandir Abhishek ceremony on January 22.
The notice states that you shall not use abusive language which may disturb the peace and hurt the religious sentiments of other residents.
Do you feel that you have done wrong by protesting against the sanctity of Ram temple in Ayodhya, then we suggest you go to some other colony, where people can close their eyes to such hatred.
Posted by Suranya Iyer on 20 Jan on Facebook. It talks about fasting in protest of Ram temple.
In fact, Mani Shankar's daughter Suranya Iyer posted on Facebook on January 20. It is claimed that he has been fasting for 3 days protesting the sanctification of Ram temple in Ayodhya. His fast is an expression of love and sorrow for Muslim citizens.
RWA stated that what Surna Iyer said in the social media post was indecent for an educated person. They should understand that Ram temple is being built after 500 years and that too after Supreme Court decision. You can cover freedom of expression (suranya).
RWA wrote that you can do anything in politics for the betterment of your country, but please remember that whatever you say, whatever you do brings good and bad name to the colony. So refrain from such posts and comments. Publicly apologize for the post or vacate the house.
In response to the notice, Suranya said - I don't live there at all
In the notification of RWA, Suranya Iyer posted on Facebook on Wednesday. He said, "I believe this is a televised story about hunger strike to frame me. I do not live in the colony for which RWA has given notice. For now I have decided not to come before the media. Because, the media is spreading wrong information."
He also wrote, "You all know me. I have worked with people from all political backgrounds in India. I have shared my views on Facebook and YouTube so you can think for yourself. I am trying to avoid the media circus. Going. Try. I believe. .We all deserve better in India.Let's stop insulting each other and try to think instead.
